SoleCrypt Announces Sovereign AI Campus in Bizerte, Tunisia
The planned development brings together advanced AI computing infrastructure, international connectivity and renewable energy to support the growth of sovereign AI in North Africa.

SoleCrypt has announced the SoleCrypt AI Campus in Bizerte, Tunisia, at NVIDIA GTC Europe in Berlin. The planned 40 MW campus, beginning with a 7 MW first phase designed around the NVIDIA HGX Rubin NVL8 platform, represents a significant step towards developing sovereign AI infrastructure in North Africa. Targeted to come online in early 2028, the campus is designed to support AI computing, research and innovation within the region.

As North Africa's first purpose-built AI factory, the campus will support advanced AI workloads, including model training and inference. Phase 1 is designed to deploy 1,728 NVIDIA Rubin GPUs, supported by high-density liquid cooling and resilient power infrastructure. Located approximately 3.6 km by routed fibre path from the Medusa subsea cable landing, the campus will benefit from strategic connectivity to European and international networks.

Sustainability is central to SoleCrypt's approach. The development is supported by a dedicated 60 MW solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Tozeur, designed to contribute new renewable electricity to Tunisia's national grid while supporting the growth of AI infrastructure.

The campus brings together expertise across technology, engineering and infrastructure delivery:

  • Hosted.AI: Bringing GPU capacity to market by translating high-density AI infrastructure into accessible cloud services for enterprises, startups and research organisations across North Africa, MENA and international markets.‍
  • Schneider Electric: Key technology advisor, providing AI data centre reference architectures co-developed with NVIDIA, alongside electrification, secure power, liquid cooling and intelligent infrastructure management solutions.
  • Meinhardt: Providing independent technical review and assurance, supported by global experience in multidisciplinary engineering and mission-critical data centre design.
  • Sterling & Wilson Data Center (SWDC): An international data centre EPC specialist with more than 30 data centre projects delivered across India, the GCC and Africa since 2015.‍
  • Maerifa Solutions: An NVIDIA Partner Network (NPN) Solution Provider Partner specialising in AI infrastructure solutions, leading the AI factory infrastructure architecture and bringing expertise in GPU cluster design, high-density computing and infrastructure scalability.
  • Supermicro: A longstanding NVIDIA partner specialising in GPU-optimised systems and direct liquid cooling AI infrastructure.

Announced during NVIDIA GTC Europe in Berlin, the project reflects SoleCrypt's ambition to strengthen Tunisia's position in the AI economy by enabling greater access to advanced computing infrastructure, supporting local innovation and creating opportunities for the region's growing technology ecosystem.
